This page says what Simple Tutor stores about you, why, for how long, and how to delete it. It is written in plain language on purpose.

What we store

  • Your account. When you sign in with Google we store the account identifier, your email address, your name, and your profile picture link. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Your learner settings. The name tutors call you, your level, and your language, if you set them.
  • Your lessons. The text of each lesson (what you typed or said, and what the tutor replied), the time it started and ended, how many minutes and messages it used, and the tutor's short feedback afterwards. You can read them in your lesson history.
  • Your whiteboards. Each page a tutor puts on your whiteboard is saved with the lesson it was made in, with the tutor and the date, so you can find it again in your lesson history or start a new lesson with it. You can delete any of them. A whiteboard can include pictures, drawn by Google's image models from a short description the whiteboard writes; they are stored with your whiteboards.
  • Tutor memory and learning paths. A short summary per tutor of what you are working on, your strengths, and your next step, so the next lesson can continue from the last one.
  • Payments. Your plan, its dates, and the payment records our payment provider sends us. Card details never reach our servers.

Who processes it

  • Google provides sign-in and the AI models behind the tutors. What you say or type in a lesson is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the tutor's replies. Voice lessons stream audio directly from your browser to Google.
  • Stripe handles payments and stores your card details under its own privacy policy.
  • Google Maps and Project Gutenberg supply map tiles and public-domain books when you use those tabs.
  • Our web host stores the site and its database.

We do not sell your data, show advertising, or share your lessons with anyone else.

Cookies

Two cookies, both only for keeping you signed in: a session cookie and a "remember me" cookie that lasts 30 days. No tracking or advertising cookies. The classroom keeps the contents of your current lesson's tabs in your browser's session storage until you close the tab.

How long we keep it

  • Lesson transcripts: 90 days, then deleted automatically. Your lesson history keeps each lesson's feedback, and tutor memory stays, while your account exists.
  • Whiteboards: while your account exists, up to your 500 newest, and up to 1,000 pictures.
  • Account, settings, and plan: while your account exists.
  • Payment records: as long as accounting rules require.
  • Error logs: 30 days, with secrets removed before writing.

Deleting your data

Open your account page and choose Delete my account. Your account, lesson history (conversations, feedback, whiteboards, and their pictures), memory, learning paths, and usage are removed at once. Payment records are kept without your name for accounting.

Children

Simple Tutor is made for learners of all ages, including children with a parent or guardian's help. Accounts are created by signing in with Google, which has its own age rules. A parent or guardian may ask us to delete a child's data at any time.
