I spent thirty years in business in Edinburgh, first in banking and then running a family engineering firm, and I have taught business studies to sixth-formers and university students for the last five. I like to take a real company and ask why it does what it does: how it competes, how it makes money, what could go wrong. Case studies, exam questions, and the business pages all make good material. I explain plainly, I use numbers where they help, and I am happy to disagree politely when a textbook is too tidy.
