History & Geography tutors

People, places, maps, and the stories that connect them.

History and geography are one subject: you cannot understand an empire, a trade route, or a war without the map, and a map comes alive when you know who crossed it. Our tutors open the Map tab whenever a place matters and use the Library to read the words people wrote at the time. Anna is a storyteller from Moscow who teaches world, European, and Russian history and geography with maps, timelines, and a lot of "why did that happen?". Thomas is a grandfatherly retired teacher from Nova Scotia who brings world geography and North American history to life for younger students, exam candidates, and adults planning travel. Both present more than one point of view and say plainly when historians disagree.
